Strong growth in Africa has helped reduce the financial prominence of aid in Africa. To encourage aid and states’ budgets to be used effectively in leveraging larger poverty transformative programs, we created the Real Empowerment Program in 2009. This program seeks to empower low income citizens to become watchdogs of their resources. The program is the heart and soul of Exit Poverty programs and has helped improve the lives of over 3 million poor citizens throughout Africa. There have been over 240 engagement projects in Kenya, Liberia, Ghana and the DRC.

In laws of physics, Water boils at 212 degrees, but at 211 degrees it is still just hot water. An extra degree can set events that, one second creates full head of steam, enough power to move a train weighing tons. Our Real Influence Program works that way, we represent & speak on behalf of low income people in influencing policy changes that lead to alleviation of poverty. The extra degree in influence campaigns creates momentum for poverty alleviation.
Women have no say in the decisions that affect them, thereby being denied the opportunity that could empower them out of poverty. On 8 March 2011, Exit Poverty and our partners all over the world marked the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day. In Kenya, Exit Poverty organized a radio talk show and press conference with the Minister of Finance and Equity Bank. a parade, town hall meetings all day to discuss challenges and opportunities for enhancing enterprise. Equity bank and representative from Poverty Eradication Commission (Gov institution part of Ministry of Finance) were able to open up more opportunities for discussion at the events.
Momentum is the greatest of all change agents, At Exit Poverty, we believe that by adding that extra degree by us speaking on behalf of the poor in influencing, pressurizing and holding local leaders accountable can create more opportunities for poor to exit poverty & enough momentum power for other scale our work. This to us means we can reach millions of the poor in Africa that would otherwise be impossible through our efforts alone.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Charity Work in Africa including;
Why should I support Exit Poverty?
Exit Poverty's program creates real, lasting change for marginalised populations and offers a personal experience that connects donors and low income people in such a way that they both get involved in alleviating poverty. True connections and relationships enable both donors and low income people to feel empowered. It creates an impact for both the lender and the beneficiary. It create a "feel good" sentiment for lenders as funding increases and they develop a personal relationship with beneficiaries. It helps marginalised people build savings, assets and credit in order to grow their small businesses.
How does Exit Poverty differentiate its campaign from other advocacy campaigns?
Exit Poverty started as a grassroots non-profit and grew to become a grass-top charity in the UK and USA. Successful campaigns are built at the local level and won at the top level, a model used by Exit Poverty. Using our grassroots presence across Africa, we provide highly relevant demographic knowledge that is critical to advocacy success. We unite grassroots participatory videos, media coverage and grass-top ambassadors to mobilise leaders to act on issues or policies at stake.
Africa is continuously developing and slowly reducing its dependence on foreign aid. This is changing the scene for poverty alleviation. The Exit Poverty advocacy model offers a unique opportunity for supporters to speak on behalf of the poor and on the poor’s relationship to resources management. By successfully implementing our advocacy strategy, we believe we can better address some of the underlying causes of poverty and multiply the scope of our impact beyond what is normally achievable through program funding and technical support.
